"We had to develop an easy adaptable and recognizable design for a variety of locations, ranging from flagship downtown to food court. It had to transmit the values of the brand, to differentiate SCANDIA from other traditional Romanian restaurants. "Romanian cuisine from the boyar's cottage". Romanian traditional restaurants are usually a clutter of kitsch folkloric items displayed in a cacophony of styles and materials. We identified some design elements easy to decrypt: the oven, always central, the vertical walnut irregular boards, the hand written recipes filled walls, the display shelves, the windows, the white metro tiles."...more
